biography

John Carlton Dunlap Jr. has over 40 years experience in ceramic engineering, manufacturing, and last but not least, masonry promotion. He keeps his customers up to date with the latest solutions in masonry systems and products.  He works in person or by telephone with designers regardless of project size or location. 

Carl grew up in the brick business and learned from his father and his father's colleagues the history, and the many intricacies, involved in what it takes to make high quality brick products. At 12 years old, his first job in the brick business was driving a forklift helping his Dad load trucks delivering brick to job sites. He has been in numerous brick plants and knows where the unique colors, sizes and textures are made. Fresh out of college with a degree in ceramic engineering and finance, Carl traveled North America working for brick manufacturers showing them how to make their high temperature kilns more efficient and produce more product.  

After several years of constant travel, he settled in Dallas Texas to promote masonry. Eventually, he joined forces with Specified Products, Inc. to grow relationships with installers. Together, they have influenced the skylines of North Texas.  Carl has been married for 26 years to Laurie. They have two grown sons and one daughter. Laurie and Carl enjoy Masters swimming, the outdoors, sports, cooking and traveling.
